║ IMPORTANT: ║
║ REQQSL is not FREEWARE; it is QSLWARE. If you use ║
║ this program, you MUST register by completing ║
║ the accompanying QSL (file named QSL.ENG) and ║
║ returning it back to me at the address that is ║
║ given with the QSL. This will allow me to advise ║
║ users of the program of any update. I have person- ║
║ naly spent many hours of my time writing and ║
║ debugging this program. Can't you take a few ║
║ minutes of your time to answer this? ║

General description:
REQQSL is intended for the incoming QSL Bureau
manager. He maintains a database of all the
stations who have pending QSL cards, including the
number of QSL cards. This file is placed on his
local BBS and users from anywhere is his region
have access to the data via the REQQSL server.
REQQSL answers incoming enquiries by sending back a
message giving the number of pending QSL cards for
the sending station and also for any other station
asked for in the message subject line. Info is given
as to get his cards delivered.
Installing REQQSL:
Place the files REQQSL.* in the FBB directory
(normally C:\FBB). Modify the config file
REQQSL.CNF to your needs. See item CONFIGURATION
below. The file REQQSL.DAT should be updated by the
QSL bureau manager: see item DATA FILE below for
more details.
Do not forget to add this server to your INIT.SRV
file as usual. See FBB manual for that.
Installing the data file manager:
The file QSLDATA.EXE is to be used by the bureau
manager to update the data file. After the data
file has been updated, a copy should be sent to the
BBS. In order to use QSLDATA, you should place the
following files in the same directory:
QSLDATA.EXE (program file)
QSLDATA.TXT (copy QSLDATA.ENG to QSLDATA.TXT to run
in English)
REQQSL.DAT (the data file)
Configuration:

I suppose that few explanations are needed except
for the 3 text sections. The first section
("header") is placed at the beginning of each reply
message generated by REQQSL. Modify the text as
required.
Section 2 is not sent if there are no pending QSLs
referred to in the reply. But if there are any,
this section of text is sent right after the list
of QSL cards.
The last section (#3, "footer") is sent at the end
of each reply.
You are not required to include any section that
you wouldn't wish to include: just state "number of
lines = 0"
Data file:
The data file should be placed in a directory
belongging to the bureau manager so that other
users cannot access it. The structure of this file
is quite sensitive and you should in no way try to
edit it other than using the data file manager
described below.
See the FBB manual regarding the way to create a
personnal directory belonging to a particular user.
Using REQQSL:
Using the REQQSL server couldn't be easier. The
minimum you have to do is send a private message to
REQQSL @ appropriate BBS. You will receive a reply
message telling you how many QSL cards you have
waiting at your QSL Bureau and how to get them
delivered to you. You may ask for the same info for
other callsings by writing them in the text section
of you message; write a line beginning with the "="
character and listing callsings separated by a
space. The line may be as long as 80 characters
maximum.
The data file manager:
The data file can be updated using the program
QSLDATA.EXE included with REQQSL. Do not edit the
data file with any text editor: this could make
the file unsuable!. Here is how you will want to
work:
The QSL Bureau manager has the QSLDATA program on
his computer, with the REQQSL.DAT data file. He can
update the file as needed, after which he sends a
copy of the data file to the BBS and places it in
the directory that has been assingned by the Sysop.
Using QSLDATA is quite simple. First copy the file
QSLDATA.ENG to QSLDATA.TXT: this will insure that
QSLDATA speeks English. When run, QSLDATA shows on
screen the number of callsings presently on file,
along with the maximum of entries allowable
according to the amount of memory available. When
you edit a callsing, the program tels you if it is a
"new" callsing, otherwise it tells you how many
QSLs are pending for this callsing; you may press
ENTER to keep this value or type a new value.
Purging the data file simply removes entries that
have 0 QSLs pending for them: removing unused
entries makes room for new ones. Considering that
the system maximum is quite high, you will probably
seldom use this feature.
